Pile It On Challenge #26-Flowers and Flourishes

It's Pile It On! Week. Along with Pile It On! I created this card for my Prickley Pear team I used one of the New Christmas Transparencies. I coated the back of it with blue and white glitter before I glued it to the card. What is great about the transparencies is they are ATC size, so you can use that for that as well.

Here's a close up of the glittered bear. He really sparkles on the card.

Here are the challenges that I used for my card.

Here's the sketch

Here's another project I made just for this occasion:
He's a Turkey ATC! I had so much fun making him.
Take a look at his belly button :) it's holding on his tail!
I ran all of his tail fathers through the Cuttlebug, he needed to have a little texture added.

The stamp on his chest is embossed in clear and then I took some distressing ink and rubbed over the thanks part so the paper behind it would take the ink (the embossing resists it) and the thanks would then pop out.

Still playing with metal tape and alcohol inks

This is (a copy of) the ornament I created for the blogger ornament exchange (bad blogger, I forgot to take a picture before I sent it, the only difference is hers said joy instead of happy). I hope my exchange partner (Lori) likes it. I am really liking what the alcohol ink does to the metal tape. I did find out that if you tap with the felt applicator all over the tape first, and let it dry completely, that the drops of ink tend to stay and not run as much.

As you can see I also am in love with the "branch" punch from Martha Stewart (purchased at Walmart, not at Michaels, that one is a different branch). I attached the fragment (also loving these days) with a Around The Block paper tail, so it moves.

Happy Thursday! It's Stamps and Smiles day

This weeks card was a little challenging for me (I guess that is why it is called a challenge :-| ). Here is the sketch we were to follow:

And here is what I came up with:

OK so I added a window...but where else were we going to see Cuppy? This way you can watch her decorate the Christmas tree. I have been looking for that "branch" punch (the one my wreath is made from) made by Martha Stewart for the longest time. I checked Michaels every time I went...nothing. NOTHING on Martha Stewarts online craft store either...what? Where are people getting it? I checked Ebay, found a couple but the shipping was too expensive. Then, you'll never believe it...I was at my local WalMart picking up my spruce tops for my outdoor planter ($4.00 cheaper than anywhere else, still almost the cost of a whole tree, really $16.00 for just 5 tops. But I paid it). Anyway, I remembered that Walmart carried Martha Stewart craft supplies. Yep! They had it. I was so excited. The only difference between the one I got and the ones they sell at Michaels is that it has a light green casing instead of white. So if you are looking for it too, try Walmart.

Have a great rest of your day!

Stamps and Smiles Project Showcase

Hello SAS Friends! We have been busy over on the The Stamps and Smiles blog, here is a fun project sample using the NEW Fall/Winter stamp release.

I created a snow scene in this great old apothecary jar I had. I stamped Cuppy holding a ornament and the tree. Cuppy is holding a mini pom-pom ribbon that looks like a string of lights. There is glittery snow in the bottom along with some fiber fill. I added some mini ornaments and the tag to the top. I hope you like it.

Now go and visit the Stamps and Smiles blog to see the other projects the team created.

Here's mine
This one was fun. I used the sample page from the My Minds Eye set that I bought. The kit came in plastic and the front sheet showed everything in the kit, including small slices of the papers that are included. So I cut that off of the page and used it at the bottom of the card. So I guess that would be faux paper piecing? I made the images look like they are both coming in from the sides of the card and meeting at the tree. Snowman and Cuppy=old buddies :)

Christmas Thrift Finds

I was able to get out over the weekend. It was a busy weekend. My Dad had to have open heart surgery on Friday. My Mom, my Brother and I were at the hospital all day. Every thing went really well. We're lucky he's super healthy and had no symptoms. He just went in for a yearly exam and the Dr. recommended that he have a stress test. So he did and that's where they found out that he had 5 blocked arteries. But he's all fixed now and might even be able to come home tomorrow. Medicine these days... amazing.

Anyway... here are my finds from the weekend. One of my favorite thrift shops opened their "christmas boutique" for the year, and I was so excited. Some of the prices were a little higher than normal, but I love everything I found.

Shiny Brites, old ribbon, vintage kitchen towels, Hallmark party invites, and napkins and a plastic creche (to add to my collection)

Awesome gold deer (don't know if they are old or not), another plastic creche, some stenciled shiny brights and plastic cookie trays

Oh yeah... and another great tinsel tree.

Why Black and White PP is so versatile...

I love black and white patterned paper, it is so versatile. With just a Copic you can make it a customized PP!

Even the back looks cool. (looks like watercolor)

This is the background paper I used in Jaimies card.

Spread the Love Blog Hop

Thanks for joining the Spread the love blog hop. You've arrived on Random Vintage Finds. Next blog on the hop is listed below.

"On October 4th, 4 teenagers armed with knives broke into a home in a small town in New Hampshire. Alone and sleeping inside were a mother and her 11 year old daughter. These 4 boys broke into this home with the intent to rob and kill anyone inside. They stabbed the mom, Kimberly Cates, to death and left her daughter, Jaimie, for dead in their driveway. It was a completely random act, their home was chosen only due to its secluded surroundings."

Our hope is that everyone hopping around today will stop for a moment and think about Jaimie and her father and what life must be like for them now. One moment in time has changed their lives forever. We are asking that everyone reading this message please take a moment to make a card and send it off to Jaimie. You can make something very simple or much more involved, but please share some words of hope and love and let her know that people do care and want the best for her. Please send your card to the address below:

Jaimie Cates

We have generous sponsors who have kindly offered up some prizes to anyone who makes a card, posts it on their blog, and lets us know they mailed it out.

You should have just arrived from
