Slider ATC instructions (for my halloween ghost)

Here is how to start:
You need a piece of cardstock that is 3 1/2" tall and 7 3/8" wide. Scored at 2.5 and 5. The last panel you need to cut 1/2 inch off of each end of the height (see picture). I used a pinking shears to cut a little off of the top of mine (to make it look like a bag).

For the ghost you need a piece of cardstock that is 2 1/4" square. You will need to round off the top to make it look like a ghost.

I used my Copics to color the eyes and add shadowing.

For the part you pull, you need a piece of cardstock also 2 1/4" square. The text (or whatever you want to add to this piece) needs to be 1/2 inch from the bottom and no more than 7/8" tall.

To create the part the actually slides, you will need a strip of plastic grocery bag 1" wide and 8" long.

Wrap the piece of plastic around the end of the card that was trimmed, apply a small strip of adhesive (make sure it is ONLY on the plastic).

Stick the other end (just tight enough where it will not slip off, but not TOO tight or else it won't slide) over the glued part.

Trim the excess.

Now we have to line up the ghost. Put him so he comes just to the top of the card. Now put a small amount of glue on the plastic strip where the bottom the ghost will be attached to it. (draw an imaginary line over from the bottom of the ghost to the plastic strip)

Now fold that small panel over on top of the ghost. It should stick to the plastic strip.

Now we have to attach the part the you pull. Line that part up to the bottom of the card, and towards the inside (see picture). Put a small amount of adhesive on the plastic strip, where the card that you pull will hit it.

You can see here where it is actually glued.

Next we need to create the notch, where you are going to pull the slider down.

I used a 1" circle and notched both sides of the card (make sure you DON'T notch more than 1/2").

Putting it all together. Have the shorter panel folded in. You need to run a 1/8" strip of super stick tape along the VERY EDGE of the panel that has the slider plastic on it, and is over the back of the ATC.

(see here)

now close the whole thing up. Make sure the shorter panel is concealed on the inside.

Test your slider ATC... pull the tab and see the ghost "pop-up".

All finished!

For the love of Rubber!

I received my Design Team package in the mail yesterday from Prickley Pear! I was so excited, I had to open it up right away. Look at all these goodies.

(see that stack of pumpkins—It's a Addicted to Rubberstamps exclusive, you can only get it there!)

I really like how the stamps come unmounted. Then I can mount them myself and stamp on the cushion side before it is mounted. (I am going to do a tutorial on how I mount my rubberstamps)

Pop-Up Halloween ATC

video

{PRESS THE PLAY BUTTON}

Here's my entry for ISC's Designer's Lottery. Isn't this ghost just so cute "popping" out of the grocery bag!

I am going to make this for my small group ATC club as well. I hope they like it. I found the directions for a card version on Splitcoast Stampers and just re-worked the dimensions so it would work for a ATC. If you want me to put directions on how I did it, please leave me a comment and then I will know you guys are interested.
**UPDATED I've had a number of requests for the directions. I will work on writing them Monday and get them posted as soon as possible**

Scrappers and card makers can find a use for anything!

I am hosting a challenge over on ISC here is what it is:

Make a card, any theme, any color, but you need to use something that is unexpected. Think recycling; a Kleenex box for the paper, a padded envelope (bubble side) for a stamp, a carved potato for a stamp, a bunch of canceled stamps for a background or a napkin as a background. Think beyond the items intended purpose.

You need to post a picture of the item BEFORE you use it in your card, as well as the finished project.

See those Butterflies, aren't they pretty?...

this is what I used...

You probably think I'm a little wacky...but I did not want that beautiful pattern to go to waste. It was so light and butterfly-like.

Guess What!

I made another Design team, Prickley Pear Rubberstamps. I saw the call for entries on SplitcoastStampers and thought I'd try out. I have in my notes that I applied on August 10th, and they were not going to choose the team until September 1. So I thought they must have chosen the team already when I did not hear anything the first week in September (I'm a little impatient). But I was wrong, I got an email over the weekend asking me if I wanted to join the team for a 1 year term. I am so excited I think this team is going to challenge me a bit, I need a little challenge in my life. I look forward to showing you the designs I come up with and hopefully turn a lot of you onto the Prickley Pear stamp collection. While you are waiting to see what I design, please visit Prickley Pear Rubberstamps.

Stamping on drawstring jewelry gift bags

I was looking for some small gift bags to put some small prizes in for a ATC trade I was in. I found these great little gift bags at my local bead supply store for 50¢ each. I could not leave them as is, so I decided to stamp on them.

You need to make sure you put paper in between the layers because the material is rather thin.

I knew I wanted to use 2 certain stamps. So the first thing I did was make a mask of the second stamp, so I could put that on the bag before I stamped the first stamp. I also wanted to do 2 different colors, so this step helped with that as well.

With the mask in place I stamped the first stamp (using StazOn). Because the material was so thin, the image did not turn out very dark (that's ok, it made it look vintage).

Here it is with the mask removed, you can see the spot it left for the next stamp I am going to use. Make sure you keep that piece of paper in there until you are all done.

Next stamp is then stamped (using StazOn) into the spot left by the mask... all done!

Stamps are Unity 2009 available in stores only set.
