By the light of the Paper Lantern

Hero Arts is having a card challenge.
This week they wanted you to create with ribbon.
So when I approached this card, I knew I wanted to do something
totally different with ribbon. I used only solid colored ribbon,
because the card is so colorful and a pattern ribbon would be overwhelming.

So here it is:

I used ribbon for the leaves on the tiny flowers
and for the tassels on the lanterns.

I broke open my new Hero Arts Good Fortune set. I really like this set.
The images are so cute and fun.

Recipe
Paper: Solid-Pink {Archivers}, White {Neenah} and Red {Papertry Ink}
Pattern: Red {DCWV}
Stamps: Asain {Hero Arts} and Swirls {unknown}
Other: Coloring {Copics}, Sewing, String, SU Clear Embossing
and Ribbon- Green, Red & Orange {Offray}

A little birdy told me

Thursday again...and that means it's OCC Sketch day!
Here is the sketch.

This one was a little tough for me, but I just got some new stamps from
Clear Art Stamps. As you probably know by now I love birds.
I could not help, but buying this super cute set. I told myself...
no new stamps until after the used stamp sale on March 6th.
But, that did not last long. I missed this set the last time the stamping
store had it. Of course I did not want to miss it again.

I also has this card blank sitting on my desk for over 3 months now.
I found it just perfect for this cute little bird and saying.

I actually had this card all done and posted to the OCC blog....
and then I looked at it again. It was really boring.
So I went back to my desk and added the paper piercing
around the bird, the added ribbon to the bird and
saying as well as the crystals to the corner.

I have to say MUCH better.

Recipe
Paper- Solid White {Neenah}, Green {DCWV}; Pattern {pink, French}
Ribbon-Unknown
Stamps- Birds {Clear Art Stamps}
Ink- Green {SU}, Pink {SU}, Black {Memories}
Coloring-Copics
Other- Nesties, 1" round punch, Vintage Button, Sewing and String

I'M PUBLISHED!

It was the first time I tried.

I sent in 5 cards to Stampers Sampler on November, 11, 2009.
(made a note in my idea book, so I'd remember)

Oh my goodness I was so excited to get that "preview"
copy of Stampers Sampler Take Ten March/April/May in the mail.
I was torn between ripping off the plastic or
saving it until my husband got home.

I could not wait... I ripped off the plastic.

I started flipping through the pages, and there I was!
on page 12 (so I did not have to page far).

And then I continued to look through to see if
any of my other cards made it.
No others, but they did do "a second look" at my card in the back.
(I think this is a new feature in the magazine)
They liked the stitching I added just to a small piece
of the paper on my card.

I still have a chance with my other cards, they have a few other publications—Stampers Sampler, Stampington and Company,
Somerset Studio... and others. When I sent them in,
the rules did say that they choose which publication the cards go in.

All I see is Polka Dots!

I love polka dots.

So when I saw the challenge on Becky's blog,
I know I just had to enter.

How fun red polka dots on a white background and
white polka dots on a red background.

I also had a chance to finally make one of those
squished paper flowers that I've been seeing around, it was so fun.

Recipe
Paper: Solid {Papertrey Ink}, Polka Dots {Martha Stewart}
Stamps: Papertrey Ink
Pin: Fancy Pants
String: May Arts
Button: Vintage from stash

Don't forget to stop by Becky's blog and play along.

Tutorial-Digi Image on a T-Shirt

Happy Monday!

I'm here to show you a great tutorial on how to get your favorite digi images onto a T-Shirt. This Mermaid and Friends image is a new digital-only version that Heidi is making available only on her blog. Go and check out all of the wonderful Digi's she has there.

I start by opening the image up in Photoshop (I am using Photoshop CS4 for all of this work, use whatever editing software you have). Size it to the size you want printed.

I am using the paint bucket tool to color in my image.

Here she is all colored in! I added some shadows in where I thought it need it.
Also you can see (below) I added a blue background.

Next what you'll need to do is flip the image. You can do this in the editing software, or when you print it, choose t-shirt or reverse in the settings.

Here is the transfer paper I use.

Here she is all printed out and trimmed. You'll need trim the excess paper, because you will see it when it gets ironed on the shirt. So I trimmed it in a nice shape that works well with the image.

Here are the instructions for ironing it that are on the
back of the transfer paper I use.

Back and fourth pressing down for 3 minutes.

After you iron the whole thing wait for it to be COMPLETELY COOLED before you take the backing paper off of the image.

Here she is all ironed on the shirt

Here is the final T-Shirt!
I made this for my Niece Madeline, I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Recipe-
Computer, HP Iron on T-Shirt Transfers (or which ever brand you like)
Iron set on High-No Water, and Fun Fringe (I sewed this on by hand)

Now is a good time to remind you on the "rules" for digi images.

These cute "chickies" are named Tilda and are from Prickley Pear. The egg shells come undecorated, so you can add any decoration you want! I also added some pink fun flock to the inside of the ears and yellow to the chickie, so they are fuzzy :)
