Leftovers

You'd think I was talking about some yummy food that I'm having again for lunch today. But I'm not. I'm talking about the challenge over at Die Cuts R Us. Which in my option is even better than leftover chinese! For this weeks challenge they want us to incorporate leftover christmas/holiday paper into our cards.

Boy, I lucked out on this one.

1. I save every scrap that I have and
2. I had a leftover ATC from our December trade.

A 2 for 1!

So for this weeks card I had some leftover strips of striped paper (I think from making the ATC). I cut them up into thin strips and alternated the direction so it would create a unique pattern. Then I mounted the ATC onto a piece of Core'dinations paper that I ran through the Cuttlebug with a snowflake embossing folder and sanded to roughed it up a bit. I added a piece of ribbon, and mounted it on the front of the card. To finish it off I ran a bead of glue around the edge and added some Diamond Dust.

Here's how I made the ATC (the original ATC was an ornament, that is why there is a eyelet at the top):
I found these great rosette stickers at Michaels made by K&Co. And here is that Pinecone stamp, again (told you I loved it from Flourishes). I used this great aged striped cardstock that I found at JoAnns, as the background. Then I tore a piece of old sheet music just slightly smaller that the ATC and edged it in Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I glued that down at a angle on the striped background. I used Adirondack ink to stamp the pinecone and colored it in with Copics. I then punched out a scallop circle with my Stampin' Up punch and stamped the Merry Christmas (Papertrey Ink Mega Mixed Messages). I added distress ink and attached it folded over the edge. The next step is to put the rosette sticker on the ATC. I then added Diamond Dust to the "snow" on the pinecone and dots on each scallop of the Merry Christmas. To finish it off, I added punched branches (Martha Stewart) and a pearl.
