Thrift Finds

I finally remembered to take pictures of my thrift finds. On Saturday our local ARC Value Village was having 1/2 off everything. I love those sales. I meet a friend there and we shopped!

At first I was not finding anything. I always go to the "art/office" section first. I found a couple packages of seal stickers. I also got these great old tempera paint shakers from Crayola. I love old Crayola things. Then I go up to the collectables, kids games and "good" clothes. I spend the rest of the time looking through the other clothes.

Playing a little catch-up

Oh boy, I have not blogged about everyday life for a while.

I thought that I will show you a few things that I've been up to.

A few finds, a few deals, and a few studio changes.

I'll start with this awesome find...

A whole huge bag full of unmount and cling mounted stamps

(mostly flowers and leaves) for 25¢ at a church sale!

This is only about 1/2 of them. I weeded out the ones I will not use

and I will sell them at a stamp sale in March.

New to me Slice!

After seeing the Slice work at CHA I know I needed one.

I have the Cricut, but NEVER use it.

SO I asked a girlfriend who has one, is she liked it..

and funny, she did not use it (she's a scrapbooker)

and she just bought a Cricut.

Day late dollar short, we could have just traded. We did still end up trading

6 Cricut cartridges for the Slice. I think that was a fair trade.

So now I need to get some more cartridges for the slice.

I hope I will love it!

New bracelet!

Nicole made it for me. I picked out the beads, but she made it.

I LOVE IT!!!

New lunch bag.

I NEED to control what I am eating.

to keep my Fibromyalgia under control.

I am supposed to "snack" all day long to

keep my energy leveled out.

This bag has a thin re-freeze cooler thing,

so I can keep it at my desk all day.

It has room for 4 snack tupperware containers

and room for my sandwich.

We'll see if this will help.

Studio clean up!

Old back wall. See to the right the file cabinets

with huge totes on top of them...

I consolidated the totes and put them and the

file cabinets in the closet. I bought another Expedit shelf

from Ikea and put it on top of the other horizontally.

I also got a few more pink "boxes" for the cubbies.

Putting them horizontally, made it so I have a lot more room

on top for display. I moved my tinsel tree up there, and my old retro

suitcase that I store all of my done cards in.

I also got a new shelf (from Ikea) for all of my stamp sets.

See the tall thin shelf on the left of this picture.

As you know I unmounted all of them and put them in CD cases.

Then I moved my "shoebox" shelves in the corner up against the wall.

Old candy jar for all of my flowers. So colorful and fun!

Sewing machine now right behind me under my window.

New Cuttlebug folders!

I visited a scrapbooking store that I have not been to since 2006.

Scrapbooks Too, in Bloomington. They had in the new folders,

and THEY BROKE UP THE SETS!!!

Oh my goodness, how smart! Cuttlebug has started

selling the new folders in sets of four, not singly anymore.

It cost a little more, but this way I could buy the ones I want

not the whole set for only the one or two that I want.

5 X 7- Bumble Bees, Art Deco, Pears

5.5 X 4.25- Rays (Tim Holtz) and Mushrooms.

Exciting deals!

Jon and I finally got away for a much needed weekend (the first time this summer). We went up to Perham, to my grandmas/our cabin. We just relaxed. We went to a couple of garage sales, I found a couple of really cool things (shown below). But my best find was 3 Lemon Lime Hostas (I am such a hosta geek). I am trying to establish a new shade garden on the north side of the house (I'll get some pictures taken soon). I got them at a garage sale for $2.00 each. The local nursery had them for $12.00! Such a find (thanks to Dad for finding the sale).

Finds: Vintage Halloween paper decorations (cats have flocking), tarnished tinsel garland, grey bobby pins, casserole dish holder, strawberries, chalkware rabbit, plastic pink hair clips, Fire King bowl, small drawer and farm animals (I only keep the cows from these sets).


I also went up to St.Cloud to get some wedding shopping done with Melissa (the bride) I needed to get my shoes and Jon his shirt and tie to coordinate with my dress. Found my shoes at Sears (on sale) and found Jon's shirt and tie at JC Penney. I just HAD TO stop at the local craft store. This place has an AMAZING scrapbooking/stamping section. I have to stop every time I go up there. Poor Melissa, she has NO interest, but tags a long anyhow. I also stopped at a target to get a few things and they had A LOT of their scrapbooking things on clearance. I got some brads, stamps and paper for 50% off.

I used a Michaels 50% off coupon to get this great stamp set from Unity. You can only get this set in stores (not available online). The regular price was $44.95, I'm so glad I saved my coupon for it.

They had Smooch on sale for $2.99, I should have gotten more.


Awesome clearance of these great Fancy Pants Design pins! yes, $2.00 each. I got one of each.



These are my great Target finds. All 50% off.

And I ordered this from Addicted to Rubberstamping.com, they had a coupon for 50% off one item.

Those were my fun finds! I hope every one had a wonderful holiday weekend. Off to the State Fair tomorrow-last day :(

Tuesday Tip

The Sunbeam Hot Shot!

I use it almost every day in the cold Minnesota winters. Perfect for the office, RV, dorm room, or kitchen, this compact machine heats 16 ounces of water to the boiling point in l90 seconds. Anyone in a perpetual hurry or who hates to clean pots and pans will love this device. Tea, hot chocolate, instant coffee, instant noodles, soups, oatmeal, and mashed potatoes—simply place the bowl or cup under the water spout and presto! Stir and slurp.

I love mine.

I even bought a second one for the office at a garage sale for 50¢.

6 hours, 5 thrift stores

Thrift Finds #4

While my DH was at a conference all day, I decided to ask my MIL if she wanted to go thrifting. We ended up going to 5 thrift shops in about 6 hours. And stopping for lunch at this great local 50's diner...called the 50's grill. Had a wonderful burger, and can't leave there with out having a slice of cake or pie. We split a piece of lemon supreme cake.

Here are my finds for the day. Did not find much, the stores were really busy!





What I found:

• A great wire basket
• Ruffled trim with 1234 blocks in blue running along the edge
• Wide eyelet lace
• a ruler (for my mom who collects rulers)
• a letter game (for scrapbooking)
• small bingo cards (had to buy the whole kit, but I just kept the cards)
• My new loves these old cards, that are small note size, but I love how they are printed and the paper they are on
• a hankie for a girlfriend
  
• and some jewelry... Rhinestone pins for my collection and a bar pin for my mom and a great retro flower
