A little sunshine on a snowy day

Happy snowy Monday. Yes, we are getting more snow in MN. I guess we are supposed to be getting 6-8 inches more. That is on top of the 18 we just got.

When is it going to end? On a brighter note, Wednesday is my last day of work for almost 2 weeks. The University gets the week between Christmas and New Years off. It is so nice.

Here is a card I did over the weekend, just to get my mind off of the snow.

It is a new stamp set form Prickley Pear. You can find it here.

Happy day!

Prickley Pear ATC Trade

Using the Wildflower Garden Stamp and part of the saying
from the Wildflower garden sentiment.

ATC size
I cut out the ATC from Green colored cardstock. Stamped the flowers in
Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder.
Then with a sponge I added white ink over the flowers,
green ink over the stems and pink over the bottom.
And then sprayed the whole card with shimmer spritz spray.

With Copic markers I colored the small piece
of lace before I glued it on. I also added
a small rub-on square from American Crafts.

I stamped the sentiment out on glimmer cardstock and
then using my word window punch from SU
I just punched out the in the beauty from the stamp.
Attached it with a button tied with string to the card.

Using buttons in scrapbooking and another idea

For years I have been collecting buttons (see here). I find uses here and there; for Doorknob Bags, for the centers of paper flowers or for use on my pennants. I really wanted to find a way to use them in scrapbooking. When we needed a display for our shop, this is what I came up with.

Isn't my mom cute!

January ATC

In January I joined a local ATC group held here. It is a warm and welcoming group, I feel honored that they let me in (I think they've been trading for a while). I had never done ATC cards before, and they were a blast, and even more fun is to see what others come up with. The shop hosts the group and gives us a theme for the month. January's theme was Minne"snow"ta. I forgot to post my ATC card from January so here it is...

I used a Minnesota Map as the background. I included a tag with a snowman made of buttons, and a sewn paper snowflake. And as a rule something on the card must be stamped, so I stamped I (heart) MN. I aged the entire card with Weathered Wood Distress Ink from Tim Holtz.
