It's Pile It On week!

This week at Pile It On! requires you to use "clear" embellishments, paper, ribbon...whatever!

This is the first time I've ever used a acrylic card. I tell you, it was fun! I am certainly going to make more.

It's Pile It On week!

I had so much fun making this card. YES, it's metal tape again! This time I place the word "peace" in thickers on the chipboard before I covered the whole thing in the metal tape. Then using the end of a paintbrush (or large stylus) I molded the tape around the letters. Using Alcohol inks I covered the tape in reds and greens. After the ink dried, I sanded the letters to remove the ink from them. The most fun was adding Diamond Dust and vintage tinsel to the "snowflakes".

Pile It On Challenge #14 Birthday Theme

Look at this! 9 Challenges! Can you believe it? I know this is the most ever. At first it was hard to figure out which challenges work well together. Now it seems that I really don't have to plan the challenges that I am going to accomplish. I just do my card and then go through the lists of challenges on PIO and I find that by just doing what I want, a lot of the challenge blogs somehow meet at least one thing I did. Like add bling, or use ribbon.

Pile It On Challenge #10 No pattern paper and at least 1 other challenge

Jennifer-Random Vintage Finds

Challenges for Jennifer

The sponsor this week at PIO is Heather Ellis's DIGI STAMP CHARACTERS aren't they cute! Just look at the cat hiding those flowers behind his back, and she is looking at him with such sincerity and wonder.

These are actually 2 different DIGI images that I just placed next to each other before I printed it. And to challenge myself with the "no pattern paper" rule, I made my own by using a cuttlebug and I also stamped and embossed a flower on my yellow paper. I hope that was not cheating :o

Pile It On Challenge #8—use at least 3 flowers

Isn't this kitty just so cute? I colored him to look like my Diesel. And look, I used actual string for the kite. When you stamp an image you don't have to use it as-is. Make it your own. It's hard to tell, but I have another layer of his head, so it pops out.

This week's challenge is to use at least three flowers on your project (and of course, at least one other current challenge from anywhere else in blog-land!!). You can go as crazy as give us an entire garden if you want!

This week's awesome sponsor is Soft Pencil Designs! She has these super duper cute digital images, you can find them here on her blog or on her Etsy store. The winner for this week's challenge will get a $5.00 voucher for Soft Pencil's ETSY store! So please visit Pile It On Challenge and enter!

Here are the challenges that I accomplished:

Challenges 101

Have you visited Pile It On Challenges lately? We encourage you to "pile on" the card challenges and enter your final product into OUR challenge!

So how it works:
Do you love to play along in challenges, but are too busy to make one item for all the challenges out there? Do you wonder how some fit so many challenges into one card/layout?

Yes, you’ve seen them around. In every challenge blog you go, their name is in Mr. Linky, but it’s the same card/layout. How do they do it? This may not be how some do it, but I’ve put together the 3 easy steps I take to combining multiple challenges (at least 3) into one creation. I hope you find this helpful!

Three easy steps to combining challenges:
  1. Break up the challenges into categories. My three main categories are (A) Sketch challenges (B) Color challenges (C) Theme challenges and I’ve found that this has worked out pretty well.
  2. Pick one challenge from each category. For example, on this card I used a sketch from Pile it on, a theme from Paper Play challenges (Fashion), a color challenge from Color Dare (Pink Pirouette/Very Vanilla/Regal Rose/Mellow Moss), and a misc challenge from Flourishes Timeless Tuesday (Cut it out and pop it up).
  3. Look down the list of Theme challenges to see if any are the same or if you can incorporate a few in one creation. For example, if a challenge calls for you to use a picture as an inspiration and another asks for you to use a bird, you can use the colors from the inspiration picture on your bird. Also, watch out for those that call for a certain type of embellishment; most likely you can add it onto your creation. This is when things get really fun!
Those are the 3 easy steps I take to combine challenges. The reason why I do it this way is that I cannot combine a sketch challenge with another sketch challenge and the same goes with color challenges. Therefore, if you put them in these three categories, you’re bound to get at least 3 challenges on one creation. (steps written by Ann @ raindropechodesigns)

Now look every Sunday for the new challenge offered by Pile it on, combine it with any of the numerous challenges we list for you, and enter!

Here's the challenge this week on PIO:

Now go to Pile It On Challenges, look on the left side for other challenges and let your creativity run wild!

But don't forget to enter your card into PIO, as well as ALL the other challenges you used. You never know you might win a prize or be top 3 on those sites too!
